The Best Cabin Crew award recognises the incredible service and professionalism provided by Virgin Australia’s Cabin Crew. It is the third year in a row that the airline has received this award.

Virgin Australia’s flagship Business Class experience ‘The Business’, available on board the airline’s Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A330-200 fleet, was awarded Best Business Class. It features individual and private suites in a 1-2-1 configuration with direct aisle access and Luke Mangan designed menus. Boeing 777 aircraft also feature a Business Class Bar hosted by Virgin Australia Cabin Crew and the largest in-flight entertainment screen flying between Australia and North America.

John Thomas, Group Executive Virgin Australia Airlines, said: “We are very proud to once again have our incredible Cabin Crew recognised for being the best in the world.

“Every time you step on a Virgin Australia aircraft, our Cabin Crew’s infectious enthusiasm and commitment to providing great service is evident.

“We are also delighted to have our new Business Class experience recognised as second to none. Each touch point was considered in the design of the Business Class suite, and our Cabin Crew bring ‘The Business’ to life for guests travelling on our Airbus A330 and Boeing 777 aircraft.”

Geoffrey Thomas, Airline Ratings Editor-in-Chief, said: “Virgin Australia’s cabin crew treat every passenger whether in row 1 or at the back of the aircraft as a special guest. Their commitment to their passengers is outstanding and is a benchmark of what cabin service should be.

“Virgin Australia’s new Business Class suite on its Boeing 777s and Airbus A330s is outstanding and far more first than business. With it, the airline now has a product that matches its flight attendants in-flight service.”

Designed by prestigious London agency tangerine, ‘The Business’ has already won a Good Design Award 2016 and a Red Dot Award 2016, and was one of three finalists in the Cabin Concepts category at the Crystal Cabin Awards 2016. An interactive virtual tour of the new Business Class cabin on board a Boeing 777 aircraft is available on Google Street View.

Every new documentary to join the Atttenborough library of award winning nature films tends to come with new technology and as such creates new chances and opportunities to see these beautiful creatures in never before seen ways.

The below footage is literally incredible and whilst it’s hard to believe that his has never been seen before it is also refreshing to know that there is still yet so much to see and experience.

When you sit down to a nature documentary with Sir David, you are instantly captivated, it must be something in his voice, the ever curious and fascinated tone of a true naturist enables even the most initially dull subject, seaweed for example, to become incredibly interesting and looked upon with new eyes and new found interest and respect. I would also recommend Galapagos for some interesting insight into the island chain and the remarkable evolution that has occurred due to its isolation from the world, currently it is streaming on Netflix.

The opening episode of Planet Earth II was the most watched natural history programme in the UK for more than 15 years, drawing in 9.2 million viewers to BBC1 on Sunday evening.

Helped by airing immediately after Strictly Come Dancing’s results show, which had a series-high audience of 10.1 million, the David Attenborough-narrated documentary is already one of the most popular shows of the year so far in a field usually dominated by drama, sport and entertainment.

Only six series have pulled in more viewers for a single episode this year: the BBC dramas Call the Midwife and Happy Valley and the entertainment shows The Great British Bake Off, Britain’s Got Talent, The X Factor and Strictly, which on Sunday night had a peak audience of 11 million. England’s Euro 2016 football matches and the Wimbledon men’s singles final also rated more highly.

Series two’s opener was also more popular than the first Planet Earth a decade ago, when 8.74 million viewers watched its debut and a high of 8.8 million tuned in for the fifth episode.

The feat is all the more impressive in the era of catchup TV and iPlayer – which launched in 2007 – when audiences are increasingly deciding to watch later rather than tune in live.

The team behind Planet Earth II have taken advantage of a decade’s worth of advances in technology to produce more detailed and impressive footage than its groundbreaking predecessor. The crews made 117 filming trips in 40 different countries, filming for a total of 2,089 days.

The head of the BBC’s Natural History Unit, Julian Hector, said: “Audiences love Sir David’s authenticity and the craft of the programme-makers that give us a window on the motivations of the animals. When so much is going on in the human world, that the natural world has an agenda all of its own, regardless, gives us a place to escape.”

It is not possible to accurately compare the show’s audience with those who watched natural history programming going back further than 15 years, as the way TV audiences are measured changed at the end of 2001. In that year another Attenborough-fronted BBC natural history programme, Blue Planet, was broadcast with an audience, under the old measurement system, of about 10 million.

Everyone has heard it or played it. Sometimes too loud, and yes, it does go on and on and on. It has recently been hailed as the greatest rock song of all time. Jimmy Page said it wasn’t what he thought was his best work but he wasn’t going to argue with the fans.

Led Zeppelin founders, specifically, singer Robert Plant and guitarist Jimmy Page, the writers of “Stairway” were in court on May 10, defending themselves against claims they ripped off “Taurus”, a song created by a much less famous band Spirit who allegedly performed it while sharing bills with Zeppelin in the late 1960s.

In a 20 page opinion, US District Judge Gary Klausner of the Central District of California said Plant and Page had a case to answer.
“While it is true that a descending chromatic four-chord progression is a common convention that abounds in the music industry, the similarities here transcend this core structure,” Klausner said.

“For example, the descending bass line in both Taurus and Stairway to Heaven appears at the beginning of both songs, arguably the most recognizable and important segments. Additionally, the descending bass line is played at the same pitch, repeated twice, and separated by a short bridge in both songs.”
The judge pointed out that both parties had conflicting versions of their interactions. It was also found the they had access to the song at the time of it’s release.

“The surviving members of Led Zeppelin testified that they never toured with, shared a stage with, or listened to any of Spirit’s music during these brief encounters. The surviving Spirit members, on the other hand, recalled conversing with the Led Zeppelin members backstage between sets and performing in succession at two of the festivals.”

Volkswagen is set to drop its signature brand, the WV Beetle, at the end of 2018.

Autoline has claimed on Twitter that the Beetle will not be replaced because sales are slowing and VW needs more SUVs.

It tweeted a photo the Beetle with the caption: “Good bye Beetle. VW to axe its iconic car at end of 2018. Sales are slowing to a trickle and VW needs more CUVs.”

VW spokesman Mark Gillies told Autoblog: “We don’t comment on media speculation.”

VW Beetle sales have been declining. While the current VW Beetle has been introduced for the 2012 model, it never sold that well. VW has just over 5700 Beetles to the US market, representing a 42 per cent decline in sales.

VW enthusiasts these days are more likely to go for VW’s Golf line of hatchbacks, sporty models of the car.

Utility vehicles are now outselling traditional cars and automakers around the world are eyeing the SUV/CUV market.

It will still be sold overseas however the sales in Australia don’t add up so it’s goodbye, farewell to a classic, unfortunately it didn’t see the same revival as the Mini has in the hearts of consumers.

Worry ye not die hard Beetle fans for VW Australia has said that a limited-run special model will be produced and it will offer some unique equipment and individualised numbering ensuring a suitable send off and departure for this classic motor.
