Starcom MediaVest Group has announced the appointment of Toby Barbour as its Sydney managing director, effective December 4, 2015.

Barbour, who has been SMG’s client services director for the past two years, takes on the role as current managing director Annick Perrin is leaving the network in December.

SMG Australia CEO Chris Nolan said of the appointment: “We are delighted to welcome Toby to the Sydney leadership role. He will be an invaluable addition and has already done fantastic work for the agency and our clients over the last two years.

“I would also like to acknowledge and thank Annick for her leadership and dedication and wish her well in her next step.”

Passionate about strategy, brand and customer integration through a commercial lens, Barbour has extensive experience leading and building high-performance teams, with a successful career in marketing and sales management positions, including GM Consumer Marketing at Sony before joining SMG.

Barbour said: “I am absolutely thrilled to work alongside Chris Nolan to lead the Sydney team and drive the agency focus on continuing to create meaningful experiences for our clients’ brands.”
